Is your clay gluten free?

Our clay is gluten-free and is created, processed and stored in a gluten-free environment. However, like all things, there is always a small risk of contamination and we do not specifically test for the presence of gluten in the products before we sh

What can I use to work with my clay on?

We recommend working on a non-porous surface that the clay will not get stuck to, that way you can wipe it down easily when you're finished.

What paints can I use on my pottery piece?

We have a range of paint sets and paint pens we’ve developed specifically to be used on our clay products.  They are available from our website in a number of color palettes.

How do I paint and varnish my pottery creations?

How do I clean up after my pottery making session?

The clay is very easy to clean off most non-porous surfaces using a wet cloth.  Getting clay on your hands is all part of the process!. If you’ve got clay on your clothes, it can be removed just with water. You’ll need to be more careful when working

How long does the clay last?

The clay lasts up to 6 months in its original packaging. If you are only using some of the clay and would like to save some, we recommend wrapping it in plastic wrap and storing it in an airtight container.

Is the clay food-safe e.g. mugs or plates?

No, our clay is not food-safe; therefore, it cannot be used to make food or drink vessels.

How long does the clay take to dry?

The clay dries by itself when left alone for 24-48 hours. The drying time will vary depending on how thick the piece is.  The thicker your piece is, the longer it will take to dry. Do not put your piece in the oven or apply heat to try to speed this

Can I get my clay piece fired at a local kiln?

There is always a risk of breakages when firing clay pieces. If you intend to fire your finished piece, we recommend reaching out to your local pottery studio or kiln owner beforehand. This way, they can advise the best approach when using their kiln

Sculpd Air-dry clay is naturally porous and may absorb water even after drying. Painting and varnishing your piece will protect against moisture absorption. It’s important to make sure all surfaces are covered when you varnish so that water cannot en
